What is the best environment of using lash glue and how to create it

The professional lash artist must know the environment of lash studio has big influence of lashing glue. Whatever the high or low humidity or hot also will have influence on the glue so that the effect of lash grafting or keeping will not so ideal. If you are living in an area with four different season, you must will feel it so obviously and notice the performance of glue is different.

And the basis of glue performance can be release very well , according to the principle of glue curing, the humidity is very very important.

Usually, the lash artist should prepare a Digital hygrometer to monitor whether the whole environment so that the glue can be get the best apply result. And if the environment is not suitable, the lash artist also can adjust the humidity or hot with some else method.

There are must many lash artist test many glue ,but they also cannot get the glue suitable for them very much. I have to say, actually, the most important factor of glue is environment ,in another word ,it is humidity ,rather than itself. (But the quality of glue and the type is also very important, because there are always something that we cannot control very well when we doing the lash extension.)

Now our this blog will show what is the best environment of lash grafting and if your environment is not very suitable , how should we adjust it to get the best! Let’s continue to read this Blog together!

What is the best humidity and temperature of lash extension?

The most thing that we must to know that the humidity plays an important role during lash grafting. First, it controls how fast the eyelash glue cures. Additionally, maintaining humidity in the ideal range (45-60%) reduces the potential for irritation and other adverse reactions during and after lash application. The controlled environment ensures optimum adhesion performance, increasing the strength and longevity of lash extensions.

The main ingredient in all eyelash adhesives is cyanoacrylate, which cures in the presence of moisture, especially hydrogen. This ingredient ensures that the lash glue dries quickly and strengthens the bond between the natural lashes and the extension cord, keeping the extension cord for weeks.

In addition to humidity, room temperature also affects cure time. Eyelash glue is liquid and temperature affects its viscosity. So when the temperature drops, just like any other liquid, eyelash glue tends to solidify. Frozen adhesives tend to be less viscous, making them harder and taking more time to dry.

Conversely, eyelash adhesives tend to liquefy when the temperature rises. Since the melted eyelash glue is more viscous than normal, it dries faster than usual. To avoid any unpleasant surprises, it is important to keep the room temperature at 22-26 °C / 71-79 °F.

Besides, there is a tips should let you know that some lash artists usually like to use jade to keep the lash extension adhesive in the past, but it is wrong way to use the glue actually. Because the characteristic of jade stone is alkaline, the characteristic of glue is acidity so that they will have some chemical reaction in some way when we put the glue at jade stone directly. It is also have some influence of the effect of lash extension. The correct way that we should put a disposable plate on the jade stone when we use it , and put the glue on it. It also can keep the jade stone clean.

Or else, you can use jade stone at a cool room temperature during lash application. It is used to hold the adhesive in place as you work.

Once the adhesive drop is fixed on the lash tile, the water in the air reacts with it, which starts curing. Then you have to get a new drop of glue every 20-30 minutes. When your grafted lashes are dipped into the glue on the jade, the small amount of adhesive on the grafted lashes starts to polymerize very quickly. Aggregation is much faster than dots on jade due to the difference in the amount of glue. This means you won’t have time to manipulate the lash extensions after dipping the lash extender into the glue. A delay may cause it to polymerize before placement, resulting in weaker adhesion. So whether it’s a classic lash extension or a volumizing lash extension, it’s important to isolate first, then dip it into your lash glue and apply it to your natural lashes as quickly as possible.

What happens if the humidity is too low?

If the humidity of the room is lower than ideal, the cyanoacrylate in eyelash glue will take a while to cure because it needs moisture from the air to adhere to natural eyelashes. An environment that lacks moisture in the air will not activate the curing process, keeping the eyelash glue moist.

Your adhesive releases particles in the form of smoke. Since these particles are attracted to moisture, if the humidity is too low (below 45 %), they will travel towards the mucous membranes in your eyes, nose and mouth to find moisture to bind with. Sensitivity of the mucous membranes may trigger adverse reactions such as tearing, burning, warmth, pain, redness of the eyes, and puffy eyelids, unless another moist place is provided for these adhesive particles. Keep in mind that you may also be at risk of adverse reactions from lingering fumes from your lashing workstation.

Since the adhesive takes longer to cure in low humidity environments, adjacent eyelashes may end up sticking to each other during the attachment process. Even if you insulate your lashes perfectly, if the lash glue doesn’t dry properly before loosening the surrounding lashes, the wet glue can clump together. This frustrating stickiness can permanently lose your client’s natural lashes, so be careful.

Another potential problem is that the lashes may just refuse to stick. Conversely, if the adhesives are not cured, they may tip or slide when placed on natural lashes. The instant magnetic attachment you’ll notice in an ideal humidity environment will be wrong.

How can you adjust the low humidity ?

  • Humidifier: By using a humidifier, you can add more water vapor to the air in the lash studio, bringing the humidity to 45-60%. It is a must for people living in arid regions.
  • Nano Spray: if you think humidifier is so big for you , using a Nano Spray helps add a fine mist to the dry air in the lash salon, helping to speed up the glue drying process.

  • Eyelash extension primer: An eyelash primer extracts excess oil from natural lashes, speeds up the glue’s drying time in low humidity.
  • Diffuser – By using a diffuser, you can increase humidity by spraying water into your strapping chamber. To add a fresh scent to your salon, don’t forget to add essential oils.

Such as the lash artist who living in Las vegas, they must to have one of the before method to control the humidity, the whether there is so hot.

While using the techniques above can help you achieve an ideal lashing environment, maintaining optimal humidity levels can still be challenging. So if the humidity is too low, your best bet is to use a faster drying glue.

What happens if the humidity is too high?

High humidity environments are more difficult to manage than low humidity environments. High humidity plays a vital role in changing the drying rate, which will allow the lash adhesive to cure and dry much faster than usual. If the humidity in the binding space is higher than ideal (above 60%), too much moisture in the air can make the cyanoacrylate in the glue overactive.

In an ideal humidity environment (45-60%), a drop of glue on the lash tile will keep it fresh for about 20-30 minutes. However, when the humidity is higher, the glue drop will start to harden more quickly, allowing it to partially cure before it can be applied. Using this semi-dry glue will allow you to adhere lash extensions to your natural lashes, but most likely, they may fall off prematurely during the grooming process or between lash extensions refills. If the humidity in the binding area is very high (over 70%), the cyanoacrylate in the eyelash adhesive stops working, resulting in poor adhesion.

Due to the faster drying time, the adhesive may not wrap the natural lashes properly. Instead, they cure in place, resulting in a rough or rough appearance rather than a flawless attachment. The overall appearance may be visually unappealing, and the resulting gaps between the adhesive beads can weaken eyelash adhesion.

How can you adjust the high humidity ?

Dehumidifier: A dehumidifier works like an air conditioner. The fan in a dehumidifier draws warm, moist air into it, drawing excess moisture from the air and restoring the room’s ideal humidity.

Air Conditioning – To combat high humidity, generally, the temperature needs to be very low. This contrast brings more balance and creates a favorable environment for easier work. Additionally, you can set the air conditioner to a “dry” setting to remove excess moisture. Using the heating option in winter can also help reduce humidity.

If you cannot reduce the humidity to the ideal 45-60% level, choose an adhesive with a slower drying time. High humidity may speed up the glue drying process; it dries 1-2 times faster than normal. Therefore, choosing a slower drying glue will give you the right amount of time to make the attachment.

If you can read the blog here, then I think you must already know the key of lash glue using which is humidity. However, when we doing lash extension virtually, there are always many factors we can not control very well. Then we need to choose the different suitable glue to adapt the changing whether and environment.
